Monica, you seem to be always so lively and cheerful. Do you also have a dark side?
It's hard to admit it, but I do. Every person has a dark side. Sometimes, when I see another actress, my heart darkens and I grit my teeth. And then, without warning, I fight an impulse to close those gazing eyes for good. And then there is my dark side... You do not want to face that side.
Don't you think it is time you write an autobiography?
Yes! It is unfavorable that I have so little time to write. Last month I've read the abridged outline of "The Book Thief", and I found it more or less passable. Therefore, I've asked my agent to pay a visit to the author - a certain Markus Zusak - because I need a ghost writer so badly, but for the moment I've not heard any answer.
If there was another movie produced about your life, who do you think should play you, and why?
It's a no-brainer: Rosamund Pike, because I always liked her as Pocahontas.
What's the strangest dream you remember?
Not really a dream: I was in a deserted gloomy place. A strange flavor in my mouth. Then I remembered I got wasted at a screening of "Meet the Spartans" in a bleak movie house near San Francisco.
Monica, is there a deep moral hidden in your "Irreversible"?
Why not! That people regret the things they didn’t do.
What do you think about the last Oscar dispute?
Frankly, this has always been a minefield.
What do you think about the international situation?
It's hard to believe it when you spend your days in dreams made of rainbows cuddled by capable servants, but in these bitter times there are places where it is impossible to find even a just so-so martini.
Are you allergic to anything?
I have a little intolerance to bullshit, ferrets, and bleach.
