A talk with Skylar Astin

Skylar Astin spent 2 full weeks in a Tibetan monastery before realizing it was not the Best Western hotel. To his advantage, he learnt to incapacitate mosquitoes by staring at them (pixabay photo)

Are you superstitious?
Naturally! I use to fill my right pocket with sand before an important work interview. Clearly not today.

Your line of work is often stressful. How do you face it?
To toughen my spirit, I periodically sleep on a cot made of fresh nettle.

Skylar, do you have something to say to your youngest fans?
Yep! Don't let the color of your skin limit you anyway. Sun block and sunscreen are sold for a reason.

If there was a movie produced about your life, who do you think should play you, and why?
According to my agent, Macaulay Culkin, because we were in the same scout troop (go Webworms!) when we were in fourth grade.

Don't you think it is time you write an autobiography?
All right! It is unlucky that I have so little time, if any, to write. Last summer I've read the inside flap of the book "Where the Wild Things Are", and I found it palatable. Therefore, I've asked my agent to contact the author - a certain Maurice Sendak - because I truly need a ghost writer, but for the time being I've not heard any answer.

Indiana Jones, Lara Croft or Professor Layton?
Are these the only rock groups you can name?

You hit the mark in "Pitch Perfect". Were you given plenty of freedom to shape your character?
You bet! The director was like fresh mud in my hands.

Do you use a pseudonym when you arrange for a limo? You know, to protect your privacy and to duck reporters and stalkers
You bet! We'll do anything to dodge those troglodytes. We mostly employ the alias "Skylar Aston".

Almost surely none of the following numbers are Skylar Astin's home telephone number :
4156753143 9419974388 8943288323 6738666720 2130052937 6894156623 8506250472 8434344674 5489740260 8358420187 9967344999 8769634372 7195831631 6690853678 850942536 247048076 6728096778 524391728 4522582199 467419621
I patiently waited for many years before being able to have a little conversation with Skylar Astin. The resulting transcription was mind-boggling, like it was written by the ghost of Jack London in his prime. So, it was awfully regrettable that another inmate (probably on purpose!) devoured my only copy! After I put the blame on karma, I tried to summon up those excellent words. So, to be honest here: I'm not one hundred percent confident this web page contains an entirely accurate chronicle of what transpired during our interview, and so I'm beginning to doubt it actually took place...
